Online Dating Not For Losers, Weirdos, Or Geeks

Like customs, old beliefs, stereotypes and attitudes die hard. They can tend to linger, sometimes long after they have long been debunked. Sadly, there is a lingering stigma or shame about online dating today, long after it has gained wide acceptance. More on Online Dating Not For Losers, Weirdos, Or Geeks

British Celebrity Finds A New Man In Online Dating

UK Actress Kerry Katona Finds A Man In Online Dating

Kerry KatonaThose of us who live in the US may not have heard of Kerry Katona. According to Wikipedia, she is an English media personality, pop singer, actress, magazine columnist and writer or ghostwriter. I like it when a celebrity has a brain to go with the looks and all. Woman Settles Match.com Assault Suit As Man Goes To Jail

Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Woman He Met On Match.com Gets One Year Jail Term

Following a lawsuit in which a woman was reportedly sexually assaulted by a man she met on the site, Match.com implemented screening members for sexual offenders (see video below). I said it then, and I will say it now, screening may help keep out convicted sexual offenders, but it is not a guarantee of safety.

You see, there are many first time offenders waiting to happen. There are many others who have not yet been convicted, either because they have not been caught in the first place or they got away (law courts and the judicial system are far from perfect). And let's not forget that bars and singles clubs do not screen people. Nothing can ever replace caution and diligence. Bad things can still happen even when one is careful (unfortunately we can’t think of everything) but one’s due diligence is still a must. Okay, back to Match.com. Match.com To Begin Screening Members – But Does This Really Help?

Popular mega dating site, Match.com, recently announced a decision to start screening its members against the national sex offenders registry. The decision appears to have been made quickly after the site was sued by a female member who was allegedly raped by a male member with multiple sex crime priors.
