All About Speed Dating
The new popular dating method called "Speed Dating" actually started years ago in Jewish communities in the Middle East. In recent years speed dating has spread and become very popular throughout Europe and North America.
Speed daters rotate from station to station every few minutes and meet a new potential mate at each station. Each dater takes turns asking the other person at their station questions until the clock expires and then they move onto the next station. Each dater takes notes on each date so they can sort of who they do or do not want to see again after the speed dating session. At most speed dating events the woman stay at the same station for the entire session while the males move station to station to meet each woman.

How Does Speed Dating Work?
Speed dating is a popular matchmaking trend to find your compatible match. It’s an event for men and women to meet in large numbers for the purpose of finding a match in the shortest possible time.
So Who Participates in Speed Dating?
Busy professionals and individuals who lead busy lives invest in speed dating. Usually they don't have time for traditional dating. They are normal people who are looking to meet prospects quickly without wasting time.
How does Speed Dating Work?
Each speed dating event is hosted and pre-planned by a match-making organizer. Each attendee is pre-screened for safety reasons. During the actual event, couples meet and interact with each other face to face on a one-on-one basis for a brief period of time, usually less than ten minutes.
Once your brief 10 minute date is over, you move on to the next possible prospect. It’s much like musical chairs. This offers participants a wide choice, therefore increasing chances of finding a suitable match.
Also, the set time limit can ensure everyone will get equal opportunity, while avoiding getting fixed with a person with whom they have no compatibility with.
At the end of the event participants provide a list of dating prospects they would like to meet again. The matching process begins after the hosted event to make sure no one will face any rejection. The organizers then will look for matches and notify the parties there’s a match.
In a speed dating event, you never exchange your contact information. This is to avoid any rejection until you’re sure of compatibility. The event is monitored by the host, which provides a safety net for you and you can walk away at any time. The atmosphere is light, fun and can be enjoyable to meet different people.
The process and rules will vary with each organizer, but the basics of speed dating will remain the same.

Speed Dating: The Faster Way to Finding Love
In the real world of dating there is a concept that puts the process of finding a mate on steroids and caffeine. It is called speed dating. As the name implies, speed dating is geared towards meeting a lot of available singles in a short amount of time. But how does it work?
Built on the premise that first impressions count, speed dating is a sort of structured meeting attended by singles. These singles 'meet' with one another for a brief period of time, usually only a few minutes.
Agreeing in advance to an interval of time saves everyone any possible embarrassment. No one has to suffer the discomfort of having to make up an excuse to leave.
When time is up, a buzzer sounds, and each of the members switches partners and repeats the process over and over again.
Of course, having only a few minutes per date can be a limiting factor. You may want to know a little more about the person who just intrigued you a few seconds before the time limit expired.
As participants are registered, they are given an identification tag that typically lists a number and person's first name and also a score card for recording notes and level of interest. After each round, participants jot down quick notes about the person they've just met before moving on.
It's not unusual for a night of speed dating to result in meeting 20 or more new people. Of that number, it's not uncommon to be interested in at least one, but frequently several other speed daters.
Then, usually the next day, participants log onto the speed dating company's website where they indicate the person or persons they'd like to meet again. When there is a match, both parties are notified and they can then use the site's email to communicate and plan future get-togethers.
The matches are made after the event to avoid face to face rejection.
Surveys by speed dating services indicate that 75% of interest goes to about 25% of the people available. Needless to say, these are usually the most attractive. You know, just like in the rest of the real world.
It is also indicative that most of the successful candidates are those that have been in a speed dating event at least once previously. This, it appears, is because they have built confidence, which positively influences the experience.
Therefore it is a good idea to attend at least two events, if you don’t succeed the first time. Most people throw in the towel after the first date, before giving themselves a fair chance.
If you feel uncomfortable at first, or take a long time to warm up, it is a good idea to try it at least one more time. If you still are uncomfortable the second or third time, this kind of event may not be for you.
One advantages of speed dating over online dating is the fact that you get to meet all these new people in person rather than relying solely on a photo that may or may not be an accurate portrayal of the person (or a profile that may be sugar-coated).
Knowing you have only a few minutes to impress can be turned on its head. If you have a short time to shine, you can only fail for a short time. That knowledge allows many to relax. They find they do a lot better than they expected.
Most of these events take place in major cities, where the population is large enough to attract many potential partners. But thanks to the Internet, if you live in small city, you can find out about events near you by visiting speed dating sites.
Better still, by joining an online speed dating service you get a chance to pre-screen participants’ photos and profiles in advance.
